Every year in the US an assessment is made as to the fastest civil trial court in 94 US court districts.
The results are interesting. The fastest Rocket Docket was in the district of Montana with 18.3 months from start to finish. Texas and Arkansas followed soon after with 18.8 months. At the other end of the scale, the district of Utah only managed 63.5 months and two New York districts were 52 and 59 months.
Positions on the table are not always maintained from year to year and include influences such as the Covid-19 measures and judicial vacancies.
It would be useful to do a similar assessment in South Africa so that lawyers and clients can make decisions accordingly and focus on getting matters to trial as soon as possible.
